New UK-Sweden shortsea container service

2/10/12 3:07 PM

The UK has gained a new container sea route to and from Sweden. The route is being introduced by MacAndrews and will call into Gothenburg from Tilbury.

The new route will be used by ships with a capacity of 300 TEU. It will mainly be used for carrying wine and other alcoholic drinks, along with food, ceramics and tiles.

The link will be used for Swedish-UK traffic, and also to trans-ship goods on to Spain (Bilbao). This development should help reinforce the success of the current Tilbury-Bilbao service.

For freight that requires further distribution within Spain, Macandrews has direct rail links from Bilbao to Madrid, Valencia, Barcelona and Seville
